Russ Ryden joined the AGCP in 2007. He had a career as a sales executive in the material handling and packaging equipment industries. His background includes CAD factory design, industrial control technology and computer programming. An avid golfer, he got involved in club building and fitting as a hobby. To further his skills he attended club building and fitting schools. He quickly earned numerous certifications in club making, club fitting and golf fitness. Upon retirement from material handling in 2007, Russ began club fitting as a full time pursuit.
As Russ develops fitting systems he shares them with AGCP members. He creates techniques that simplify the application of golf technology in the club making and fitting process. He began making AGCP Round Table presentations in 2009. With the addition of a metal milling machine to his shop in 2010, he creates shaft analytic equipment used my many AGCP members.
His fitting system contains the very latest technology, combining 3D radar, photo sensor swing path analysis, and high speed digital video. He developed a method to analyze club acceleration with high speed video. At the 2009 RT4 AGCP meeting, Russ received the Tekkie Award for his technical contributions to the AGCP membership. He is continuously engaged in research on club performance as it relates to club fitting and writes articles on club fitting for the Avid Golfer magazine..
