AGCP Qualification Levels

AGCP members are tested and Qualified for listing on the AGCP web site using the following Levels of Qualifications. If you find a member on the locater pages. check his Qualification Level to determine his experience, qualifications and the equipment he has in his shops.

Level 1 - Member of AGCP – Level 1 must take a proficiency test and prove they have at least the minimum ability to do business as a Professional and a minimal amount of equipment to do business and help golfers. Level 1 members may or may not have attended any schools, but have been tested for a minimum of knowledge and experience to help you in some ways. It is advised that you call Level 1 members and satisfy yourself that they are capable of doing what you need.

Level 2 – Member of AGCP and has attended at least 1 recognized school or certification course.

Level 3 – Member of AGCP and has attended at least 2 recognized schools or certification courses.

Level 4 – Member of AGCP and has attended at least 3 recognized schools or certification courses.

Level 5 – Member of AGCP and has achieved Certification thru PCS or GCA testing, or has been building and/or fitting clubs for 3 or more years with appropriate schools or certification courses. Member has fitting ability but limited equipment.

Level 6 – Member of AGCP and has achieved Advanced Certification thru PCS or GCA testing, and/or PCS, Golfworks, Golfsmith, Mitchell, Dynacraft or attended Rifle or TT Black Gold Certification class, and/or has been building and/or fitting clubs for 5 or more years with appropriate schools or certification courses.

Level 7 - Member of AGCP and has achieved Certification thru PCS or GCA testing, and/or has been building and/or fitting clubs for 3 or more years and/or appropriate schools or certification courses. Member has a complete shop with hitting net, launch monitor, gauges for measuring shafts & heads and the ability to bend clubs to fit. Equipment must include Launch monitor or swing analysis equipment similar to Golf Achiever, Vector, Bengston, Zeolocity, or other recognized equipment for swing testing. Member has bending equipment for loft and lie on irons, appropriate shaft pulling equipment, equipment to spine shafts and measure frequency of shafts.

Level 8 - Member of AGCP and has achieved Certification thru PCS or GCA testing, and/or has been building and/or fitting clubs for 5 or more years and/or appropriate schools or certification courses. Member has a complete shop with hitting net, launch monitor, gauges for measuring shafts & heads and the ability to bend clubs to fit. Equipment must include Launch monitor or swing analysis equipment similar to Golf Achiever, Vector, Bengston, Zeolocity, or other recognized equipment for swing testing. Member has bending equipment for loft and lie on irons, appropriate shaft pulling equipment, equipment to spine shafts and measure frequency of shafts.

Level 9 - Member of AGCP and has achieved Certification thru PCS or GCA testing, and/or has been building and  fitting clubs for 3 or more years with appropriate schools or certification courses. Member has a complete shop with hitting net, launch monitor, gauges for measuring shafts & heads and the ability to bend clubs to fit. Equipment must include Launch monitor or swing analysis equipment similar to Golf Achiever, Vector, Bengston, Zeolocity, or other recognized equipment for swing testing. Member has bending equipment for loft and lie on irons, appropriate shaft pulling equipment, equipment to spine shafts and measure frequency of shafts.  Member also has video capability and/or teaching capabilities.

Level 10 - Member of AGCP and has achieved Certification thru PCS or GCA testing, and/or has been building and fitting clubs for 5 or more years and/or appropriate schools or certification courses. Member has a complete shop with hitting net, launch monitor, gauges for measuring shafts & heads and the ability to bend clubs to fit. Equipment must include Launch monitor or swing analysis equipment similar to Golf Achiever, Vector, Bengston, Zeolocity, or other recognized equipment for swing testing. Member has bending equipment for loft and lie on irons, appropriate shaft pulling equipment, equipment to spine shafts and measure frequency of shafts. Member also has video capability and/or teaching capabilities.

Level 10 Plus Retail - Member of AGCP and has achieved Certification thru PCS or GCA testing, and/or has been building and fitting clubs for 5 or more years with appropriate schools and/or certification courses. Member has a complete shop with hitting net, launch monitor, gauges for measuring shafts & heads and the ability to bend clubs to fit. Equipment must include Launch monitor or swing analysis equipment similar to Golf Achiever, Vector, Bengston, Zeolocity, or other recognized equipment for swing testing. Member has bending equipment for loft and lie on irons, appropriate shaft pulling equipment, equipment to spine shafts and measure frequency of shafts. Member also has video capability and/or teaching capabilities. Member has a retail location in their community.

Level 10 Plus Teaching Plus Retail - Member of AGCP and has achieved Certification thru PCS or GCA testing, and/or has been building and fitting clubs for 5 or more years and/or appropriate schools or certification courses. Member has a complete shop with hitting net, launch monitor, gauges for measuring shafts & heads and the ability to bend clubs to fit. Equipment must include Launch monitor or swing analysis equipment similar to Golf Achiever, Vector, Bengston, Zeolocity, or other recognized equipment for swing testing. Member has bending equipment for loft and lie on irons, appropriate shaft pulling equipment, equipment to spine shafts and measure frequency of shafts. Member also has video capability and teaching capabilities as a former or current PGA Professional or certification through one of the recognize.

Master of Golf Club Technology - To gain the unique distinction of becoming a Master of Golf Club Technology, the AGCP member must have achieved the following:

  • Masters must have experience as a Professional* Club Technician, Fitter & Builder
    • Full-Time (5 Years)
    • Part-Time (10 Years)
  • At the time of nomination the nominee must have a local business license
  • Masters must achieve AGCP Level 10 at least 12 months prior to nomination
  • Masters must have attended at least 2 Roundtable Education Conventions
  • Masters must have made at least one Presentation at a Roundtable or be scheduled for one in the upcoming event.
  • Masters must be nominated by 3 or more Current AGCP Masters
  • Masters must have knowledge and training in golf swing mechanics and know now the golf swing and golf club work together.

In addition, the Master of Golf Club Technology of the future must have completed a series of special Certification Classes in the different areas of clubfitting and club building to show that he is not only generally qualified but qualified in every area of clubfitting and club building. Such areas as Length Fitting, Trajectory Fitting, Shaft Profile Fitting for both Woods and Irons, Wedge Fitting, Grinding heads for special playing conditions, and many, many areas too numerous to list. Each AGCP Master of Golf Club Technology is truly a “MASTER”!
